HousingWire’s editor, Jacob Gaffney, reports about some of his ‘interesting’ encounters from SourceMedia’s latest Loss Mitigation conference.
HousingWire attended the SourceMedia Best Practices in Loss Mitigation Conference, in Dallas this week and actually didn’t make it to a single conference. This was due mainly to being pulled aside for a series of discussion with market players who are either completely new to the space, or veterans to loss mitigation. In between these meetings, readers of HousingWire used the opportunity to get inside the editor’s head. Continue reading...
Gabe’s Gang
Autism is a lifelong disorder that affects verbal and non verbal communication, social interactions and play or imaginative skills (unusual interests and behaviors). Early diagnosis and intervention is critical in order to get the best outcome possible for these children. Unfortunately, treatment is expensive and not covered under most insurance companies and charities. If you would like to learn more about autism, please visit www.NationalAutismAssociation.org.
Gabe’s Gang is an organization ran by two parents trying to give their 6 year-old son, Gabe, the best quality of life. One hundred percent of the proceeds they collect go towards his in-home therapy program to help improve Gabe’s quality of life. According to Gabe’s mother Jenn Miller, “We would rather be consumed by love, hope, faith and the celebration of everything Gabe is and does, not what he can't do. He is an amazing little boy and we are so proud of his accomplishments in therapy. Despite all the challenges he is facing, he is a very happy, active child.”
If you’re interested in helping the Miller family, please email ronnyandjenn@gabesgang.com, or visit www.GabesGang.com. |

...The origin of the "$" sign has been variously accounted for. The most widely accepted explanation is that it is the result of the evolution of the Mexican or Spanish "P's" for pesos. This theory explains the "S," gradually came to be written over the "P," resembling the "$" mark. It was widely used before the adoption of the United States dollar in 1785.

TROY RAY
A.K.A. "T-Ray"
Troy is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University where he majored in Information Systems and minored in International Finance. While at Wesleyan he participated in several intramural sports and especially shined in soccer while still maintaining his grades. He was Academic All District, Men’s Soccer All-Conference and played in 3 NCAA Soccer Tournaments.
After graduation in 2003, Troy interned at Great Plains Communications in the Internal Tech Support department. During his internship he resolved computer issues, setup computers for employees and installed software. After his internship, he worked at Information Technologies Inc. At ITI he was a programmer supporting ATM switch programs.
In 2005, Troy came to work at Mortech. As one of the first programmers to work for Mortech, Troy has played a large part in building several features to the Marksman platform. Troy plays a key role in helping design and develop all Mortech products. He also troubleshoots and resolves issues for the customer support staff. Prior to the release notes being available, Troy tests changes made to the system to bullet-proof the new functionalities being made to Marksman. His efforts ensure the system is more efficient and user friendly for Mortech’s customers.
Troy recently bought a house here in Lincoln, Nebraska. He enjoys tailgating for Husker football games, participating in Fantasy Football and playing several sports such as soccer, basketball, golf, volleyball and softball. Another lesser known sport for which Troy is familiar with is T-shirt jump roping. This ‘athletic’ sport involves Troy taking a t-shirt, using the sleeves as the handles and the remaining part of the shirt is jump roped by Troy himself. It takes not only skill and concentration, but a great sense of creativity to perfect the challenging art of T-shirt jump roping -- all characteristics for which Troy is infamous.
Each month Mortech profiles a different employee in our monthly newsletters. The profiles are intended for our customers to know the individual on the other end of the phone or the ones working behind the scenes. |
